On Wednesday Nov 13th the wife and I went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. Conveniently located right next to the Horseshoe casino.

We stayed at Harrahs. Cost was $13.70 for the resort fee and taxes, Rest was comped. Checkin was quick and painless. Rooms are getting dated but still clean and very good for the price and convenience of being right off of I-29.

Barffet was closed at Harrahs. It's only open Thursday thur Sunday now. We didn't play or venture into the casino at Harrah's.

Before the concert we went to Ameristar because I wanted to see what the new ETG was there. It was Roulette.:( They're down to 2, 12' tables now. 1 was open but I didn't play. I found an empty $25 double deck Blackjack game so I played it for around 40 minutes. $500 in $1020 out.

We ate at the Barffet at Ameristar since time was a factor. Price was $19 ea. and food was above average for a barffet.

After the concert we went to the Horseshoe. They're down to 4 tables that are at least 14' long maybe longer and 1, 8 seat azure bubble. Tables were $10-$5000, 100x odds. 1 crapless and 1 regular table was open. Crapless was deserted and regular table had 6 players. I decided to play the bubble. $3-$2000, 5x odds. Lost $900 Wednesday night, won $1000 on Thursday morning when we went back before departing. Wife broke even for the trip. All she played was Blackjack.

Before leaving Thursday we at at the cafe at the Horseshoe. It was very good and the girl at the counter was nice enough to remind me I had a half off food comp and asked if I wanted to use that.

The opportunity to progress using 100x odds has always fascinated me, but the 8 or 10 times I have played on such tables, I could never get to progressions.

IF I lived near such a table, I'd being playing a good bit more than I now do, which is hardly at all.

In almost 30 years of playing I've only caught one once. Got the line bet up to $40/$4000 before the shooter crapped out. It was a young guy who was still pretty green and he shot for 40 minutes.

    nice trip report,
myself, I don't recall ever going over and up to maybe 30-35 times odds, I think I hit 40 times one time, but took the bet down when the dice went off table.
If I found a 3 dollar table with 100 times odds Id probably be going up to 25-30 times odds a lot, not with 10 dollar flat bets. Id have to be up 15-20 grand before Id press up to a grand in odds.

I had no clue where council bluffs was, so I looked it up on maps.
looks a like a nice stopover,
going along route 80 for me, some Michigan casinos, battle creek, new buffalo, then Chicago area, then Id head over to visit a relative in cedar rapids, then keep going to council bluffs and then Blackhawk. Make it a 2-3 week trip only.
don't think I can handle anymore than 2 or so weeks out in the car again.

That is very nearly the same as my biggest loser, which was 400/4000 with 10x odds.

Hate to bring it up Mssthis1, but what was your final number for the session after seven out?

Did you stop by Runza on your way out of town?

Council Bluffs is a decent set up. We stopped by there in May at the beginning of our National Parks trip. I try and get out that way every few years. However, the Huskers, uh, haven't been good lately, so I haven't made the trip to Lincoln since 2016.

I Hadn't heard of Runza before. I'll definitely check it out, since I like that kind of food. Thanks for the tip. Now, if I could just find a local place that makes a good grinder. My old favorite changed hands and they don't make them anymore.

We didn't venture into the casino at Harrah's even though we were staying there. Harrah's Council Bluffs seems to attract a greater percentage of people who are a few rungs lower on the evolutionary ladder so we played at the Horseshoe and Ameristar.

Gaming draws in an element. I think we've all seen it. The true locals places here like Arizona Charlies, Dottys slots and a few others can bring out some...cough...cough...low end stuff.

Runza is a sandwich to try. I think Runza is either Nebraska or Kansas based.

On a road trip passing by Ogalala, NB I stopped at a Runza store and had my first Runza. I'm still not sure how to describe it, but there was something about it I liked. I would try another next time I'm in that area.

Bread pocket filled with beef and onions and seasonings. Sign me up for trying it.

I never heard of it before. Almost sounds like an empanada.

I think the empanada is close. The Runza flavor kinda reminded me of a Michigan Pasty I tried. Seems close in taste but the Pasty is loaded with generous portions of ingredients; It's a whole meal in one sandwich.

    Sounds delicious.

I always enjoyed the Chicago hot beef sandwich when I got them out here. Really, any kind of steak sandwich or meat sandwich with seasonings, grilled onions etc.

Not sure when I’ll make it to Nebraska....I think it’s 1 of 5 states I’ve missed.

That’s why I’m always in amazement in folks who put a high premium on a low minimum bet table. Eliminating riff raff should be high on your list, especially in areas with many casinos.

Can’t speak for other cities...but here, I’m going to suggest a lot of them are looking for $3 or $5 tables because they are gambling 3-4-5-6 and yes, even 7 days a week and if they moved to higher limits....they would eventually find themselves bunking with the parking garage denizens.

Location to gambling certainly can play a roll. They want to gamble. They like low limits. They flock to the shit holes.

Red Rock for me, is distinguished. I can play low limit craps and not worry that the guy next to me stinks of body odor and 3 day old chili.

If the bubble goes from Red Rock...last thing you’ll find me doing is hitting up dumps to play $3 craps.
