    Love the site
Reading John Patrick’s books hit and down place the 6/8 one hit and down. I am a total beginner he says this will get you used to the game once you win 50% he say do two hits and down. Any comments on this very conservative strategy
    Thanks

In the long term, it makes no differance when you take them down, or even IF you take them down. Since you are going to put them back up again, that would be no different then leaving them up. Nothing Magic about this system. Your money would be at risk ess often and therefore would tend to last longer. If you really want to preserve your stake, just take your bets OFF before every throw.

Von Duck thanks for your response. I dont think i will just always turn my bets OFF before every throw . I am just trying to get used to the game without risking alot of money. Do you reccommend a different strategy for that besides turning BETS OFF before every throw
    thanks

Though what I said was true, it was said in jest. Let me think a little bit, and I'll get back to you with a workable system. It's a little tougher. These day because table minimums are elevated. What is the lowest minimum available to you?

Have a garbage can? Throw every John Patrick book away! Maybe get 777's book!

The biggest problem with this "strategy" is that you must get one hit.

I personally do not play the game like most folks, but IMO two bets at a time at all times is not conservative.

Have a garbage can? Throw every John Patrick book away! Maybe get 777's book!

I have never read any of Patrick, but have read 777 and agree with DM, get 777's book All you need to know

If you can't get one hit, you need to stick to "buffalo hunting".

    This is Barney

The LID use to be a world class "Buffalo Hunter" before he began conducting Dice Control Exhibitions and Academies. Now the only personages who "Buffalo hunt" at casinos is me and Eustace whenever we are out of monies.

Yeah, I got that term from you. It seemed a pretty good fit. I've added it to my vocabulary, which is now close to a hundred words. :)

That’s a great system. When I last played, pre-Covid, I was playing $18/$18 on a $5 table. Regress to $6/$6 after 1 hit. I still lost but the wife did great on slots...lol

I think that 6/8 + pass line with full 3/4/5x odds is one of the best ways to play.

10$ tables are OK, but I prefer $5. I generally design systems around a $500 bankroll, and I recommend you have two available, just in case the unthinkable should happen. :)
Best for who? I find it to be a TOTAL ASS KICKER, and by that, I mean the guy playing it, gets his ASS KICKED.

As long as I have fun and the wife wins on the slots, I don’t care.

Is there a Mrs. von Duck?

    Punch,

If you want to meet up at Rivers in Pittsburgh sometime, give me a holler.

Next couple of weekends no good for me though, although I might be able to make it tomorrow.

Another Steelers fan. I’m a Raven fan, originally from Baltimore. In NE Ohio since ‘93.

It’s great to be a Steelers or Ravens fan.
