anyway.....one craps dealer was so miserable, she was barking at people? do you leave the table when this happens? I do not normally have miserable craps dealers

I did well at craps all day saturday then lost it all on baccarat but hey thats just how it goes

    You mean barking....like a dog?

    Woof?

These people are human. Humans have bad days. It’s not right....but shit happens.

Maybe her husband forgot to pick up milk for her morning coffee.

    I wouldn’t worry.

If it gets on your nerves....yeah, I would probably leave and tell the pit boss why.

dealers are human, but its up to their bosses to curb that shit.
leave you home life at home and leave you work life in work.
If you cant control your temper at your job dealing with the public, the boss needs to send them home.
    its the bosses fault.

I have been at two tables where a dealer should have been sent home early and had a short paycheck. First incident occurred in the wee hours of the morning at Tropicana LV. I can only guess that the dealer's problem was that he had been held over for a second shift and had had to cancel important plans, for when on stick he was berating us all for being stupid enough to be playing at that hour. IIRC this was the first time I had been to Trop since my visits with my parents several years previous so I was reluctant to leave, but could find no joy at other tables so headed next door to what was then Aladdin.

Second incident of The Plaza LV downtown on 9/11, the 9/11. About half the people on both sides of the table were in bad moods, but this dealer made no attempt to conceal that he was not at all happy to be there. I had to remind him to pay me more than once, and on stick all he did was call the number once with no embellishment. "2." "10." "7." I put up with this longer than I normally would have because I was meeting some other DI wannabes from LV and LA, but they canceled, and being as I did not have access to e-mail I waited for them, only eventually figuring out they were not going to show.

A few years ago, was playing single bet at a time nickel Come and odds for a half hour or so, win some but losing most.

On a winner, the guy next to me, who had not made even one Come bet, grabbed my winnings immediately. I was shocked and said, what the fuck are you doing? He insisted that it was his bet, and the same dealer who had been moving my comes and odds all session stated that it was the other guys winner.

I let loose on the dealer, asking him what the fuck he had been doing for the last 30 minutes. The dickhead who grabbed the winner chimed in with something to the effect learn how to play the game.....Pushing my buttons, I told him I would follow him into the parking lot and learn him some manners. I'm not very big and haven't been in a scrap in many years, but have never taken shit from anyone.

I was more astounded at the dealer, who I kept harping at. Finally, the suit told him to pay us both.

I kept harassing the chip thief, but he left pretty quickly, and I bid him a friendly farewell!

I've had people pick up my chips but never had a confrontation
They apologize and we move on
Usually picking up chips we are winning so everyone is usually in good spirits
Once in nevada at the pyramid hotel I had a beginner next to me
Young kid with his young girlfriend
He asked a few questions I didn't mind he wasn't a schmuck about it
Several times he'd point to the chips and say aren't those yours and I'd say no they are yours
Once he left 7 dollars in chips on the table and as the shooter got the dice I told him quick or yell out a bet so he pointed to it and said hard whatever I don't recall the point and it hit
    That roll
Dealer looked at him and pit said did you get a phone call?
Kid didn't understand but I made sure he took back his money
I helped him and when I left I told him you did great time to leave and he left

I remember that trip because I held my nose and blew my ears to unclog and I clogged a salivary gland and he entire trip I felt dizzy and rarely left the hotel
    My wife did t mind
I played a lot in pyramid hotel and when I went back to room 3 rd day there was a huge pyramid shaped gift basket filled with fruit and candy with a not from a pit boss who said she monitored my play and picked up all charges and if I needed anything for the remainder of the trip to contact her
Even the last day she let me know she picked up our final room service charge
    Very nice of them

the luxor, just hit me before...that was the hotel, with the elevators that go sideways..whatever they called them.

so koko, I get back and head over to doc, the dizziness, thirsty, I figured it was diabetes....he sends me to specialists, nothing.

around 10-12 days later everything is normal. I went in for a cleaning a few days later, my dentist asked, did you hold your nose and blow, he told me I clogged a duct and it will take 10-14 days to clear, not to worry, but it already passed. So they put me thru a dozen tests all for nothing, my dentist laughed. Noone could figure that out?

I guess modern medicine, great as it is, still poses a lot of mysteries for those who I think would know.

But, several times, I describe or show a problem, and it's as if the doctor steps back & scratches his head. I often get the feeling that I must be the only person in all medical history to have this problem.

I was at a joint in Laughlin and new player wanted to bet a $50, 10 which was already the point. Dealer told him to put it in the pass line. I told him to slide it back straddling the line so he'd get paid better and I got the stink eye from the pit. When it hit the rat finks only paid him $90 since he didn't tell them to buy it.

Same place where a pit boss told me they put newspaper obituaries under the felt. o_O

That's one of the many reasons I don't like Laughlin. They definitely sweat the money more than most.

    This is Barney

Sounds like that dickhead next to you had a beard, chained smoke, and wore a skunkhat. One of his best AP craps move no doubt.

I experienced a similar scenario some decades ago. I guess I can sympathize with my dealer since my antagonist was a junket player and therefore in a favored position.
Once at my local haunt I made a Come bet, and as it was being moved to a point both I and another player started to give the dealer odds for it. Without missing a beat the dealer took our bets; said, "Don't worry about it,; and set up two bets, using chips from his working stack to make up the second flat bet.

I thought I had posted the above anecdote either here or on Usenet, but I couldn't find it. However, I did find a thread started by one Barbara Wheatley who advocated a method for past posting odds to Come bets that had just won. Her OP was deleted, so it must have really ruffled somebody's feathers, but you can still get the gist of it and the...um...unfavorable responses it generated. In other threads I referred to the technique as The Wheatley Whisk. (Turns out there are two threads, but I suspect the shorter one was meant to be a branch of the longer one.)

Im guessing the luxor is still there, but for us, it was too far down the strip when we didn't have a car.

Yep. Renovated and remodeled several times over the years. I do believe the Egyptian theme is pretty much gone (although, last time I checked the sculpture out front is still there). It's been years since I walked thru it.

MGM has been on a multi year renovation plan for all their Vegas properties. No more ground up properties for them in Vegas. Now it's a matter of transforming old themes. Monte Carlo is gone. Now MGM park and 100% not Monte Carlo themed. They want to redo the Excalibur...but that could be a big project.

The new edict at MGM is no more "city" or "country" themed resorts. Generic themes....Park, Harbor....or just plain modern. Murren is a big modern art/retro fan and the change is illustrated in the properties now. The one exception is they built a huge Italian market (Eataly) at Park MGM...but I think that is owned by someone else. Beautiful place.

South end of the strip. Luxor was the first hotel I stayed in when visiting Vegas for the first time. Just after construction. I did visit as a kid in the 1970's.

Once Luxor and NYNY were built....that end of the strip started gaining traction.

Luxor was a nice place to stay and play.

There is a tram that goes from Excalibur to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. By the time you go through the rats maize to get to it, it's still a bit of a walk.

LOL, there are a hell of a lot of rat mazes in Vegas!

Note to self, have LID or another tunnel resident show us the way next time there!

There are tunnels in Vegas for rain water run off. Lot of homeless people use them to escape the heat in summer. Also very dangerous as they are prone to flash flooding. They just did a story on those living "down under" and they found a former porn star (can't remember her name)...seems she was very nice looking but has fallen on real hard times. Only 36. Can't imagine what she has to deal with in that environment.
