EDIT: Title Should be Dell XPS 9560

Some good news coming out of Las Vegas yesterday...

At its CES presentation, Dell announced several long-awaited updates to its XPS notebook line -- an optional Nvidia GeForce GTX 10 series (Pascal) graphics processor (1050), along with the latest 7th generation Intel (Kaby Lake) CPU. The new updated 15" version of the XP notebook is the 9560.

From my perspective, the key announcement is the availability of the optional GeForce GTX 1050 GPU. The current XPS notebook line includes an optional GeForce 960M GPU, which was introduced @3 years ago. While the 960M is still quite capable for ordinary users (and light years ahead of Intel integrated graphics), it s starting to show some age as 4K screens and multi-monitor setups are becoming more popular.

Pricing and availability have not yet officially been announced; expect the 9560 to be available sometime in March 2017. Hopefully, Dell maintains its current pricing structure (or perhaps a bit lower!) for the new updated XPS version.

Who knows, perhaps JH is in the market for a new computer.

I've been waiting for this update for a while and am seriously looking into it. I don't play games on the computer anymore, at least none that would require a GTX 1050 GPU, but for video editing / streaming it would come in handy. There's also a 4K option for the display, which I would probably spring for and the 1050 GPU should be able to handle it much better than the older 960M. Not that I want to see some of the images that are posted on this forum in extreme detail, lol.

Oh yeah, Dell also announced an 8K monitor yesterday, for a mere $4,999.

I think it would be fun to attend the CES, especially to check out the newest streak detectors.

There were only 4 built. You can't get one for any amount of money.

I can't help think your choice of "streak detector" was not random. :D

There are some crazy (scary) good engineers and creative types out there coming up with all sorts of new inventions & processes, most of which will probably never see the light of day in a mass-produced commercial product. I would love to have seen what research projects were ongoing at Bell Labs or Xerox Parc years ago.

Admit it, though -- you want to attend CES in order to check out the booth babes.

Didn't Linaway say this is the best streak detector, and easily concealed while playing?
