Nah....I don't see any of their properties being closed up. They just bought the Palms and poured 300 million into a renovation.

There is a strong rumor of them being bought by Penn Gaming...but that's chatter.

Murren has stated...as far as MGM goes, no more ground up properties will be built by them in Vegas. Rebranding? Yes. Renovation? Yes. New? No.

The Fountainbleu (Drew) has already delayed and Resort World has for about the 10th time slowed to a crawl.

The next new project is Downtown by Derek Stevens.

Wynn shit canned their planned expansion.

Of all the areas in Vegas...Summerlin is booming. There is an empty lot, casino zoned about 1 mile from me. Time will tell. Station owns the lot. The new baseball stadium is bringing 10,000 people for each game right next to Red Rock. I'm already seeing heavy pedestrian traffic back and forth.

Vegas resorts are drawing income from other ways. Gambling has become almost secondary.

I've received some inside word in the last week, corporate wise....some shit is hitting the fan.

You say that that gambling is almost secondary, but without it, Vegas would be a very "tough sell". Those great big places, have way too much overhead, for a tight market. I wonder what the electric bill runs on one of those monsters. I wonder which game in a casino, make the most money, per participant? What game do the biggest losers play? How much money does a casino need to suck out of each patron, to make ends meet?
With any business there is a saturation point, so maybe casinos, will go the way, of the video stores. I don't think slots like bubble craps will ever go anywhere, but live games with remote betting screens might. A craps table in a pit, with maybe a hundred betting screens. Might also help, if the bettors were allowed to stone bad shooters, bring some "spirit" back into the game. "Go ahead "randie" throw the dice" :)

Average annual pay, for this bunch, $400,000. That's pretty good money. Wonder what they actually DID, or by all appearances, DIDN'T DO? So who's going to count the beans NOW?

Maybe we should all start talking up the Red Rock to help out.
Maybe I should harvest some of those bubble photos you posted here
and post them on some of the other forums and talk about how great the payoffs are
on the Red Rock bubble, that might help a little.

TDVegas sounds like he might be on the city council or
the chamber of commerce in Vegas.

As long as there is one casino with one craps table I think we will be fine.

    WoW von duck,

200 Managers Cut to Save $100,000,000, you are right, what did they do @ $400,000 Salary + Benefits / Year???

Plus the above correlates well with this comment:
    .............
The job cuts were announced as part of an overall plan to boost earnings by $200 million by 2020, MGM said.

Now, they intend to get another $100 Million form the Players???

Should we AVOID all MGM Properties???

I'm sure they have several high-tech pocket picking machines in the works. I like their new, "mail us your stake, and save the travel expenses" program, makes sense to me.

For someone who likes to rail on players here who think the casino biz isn't some cash cow for players and the overall expectations for all are essentially negative, regardless of game....you sure like to tout and promote the casino "company line"......"We will beat you".

Buck up. Some players do win. Occasionally.

Btw, stock movement on earnings day is generally tied to analyst expectations/opinion...not how good or bad the company numbers are.

Wow, TDV actually said the following:

""Buck up. Some players do win. Occasionally.""

    Totally amazing coming from TDV!!!

Red rock has been packed every evening. Ball field had a huge crowd last night. We have a good view of it from our room.

I played for a while at the trop and hooters while the wife shopped on the strip yesterday and they were almost deserted.

Free parking with easy in and out driving at the trop if that matters to anyone.
