So it’s official I will be in Vegas from 4/19-4/22 this year. This tournament just so happens to be the same weekend I’m there. Bummer is that I’ll be leaving early flight on Sunday and even if I was lucky to qualify I wouldn’t be able to attend the actual tournament .
However , I did hear that they usually get between 60-70 Former Golden Arms for this event .... If you have a 1 hour roll or more you are considered a Golden arm and get on the wall.
I’m hoping to meet some good shooters this weekend at least. Has anyone ever been there for this event ? What is it like ?
Ya might wanna ask James, & the Mess crew. They are on every wall in Vegas.
If I recall, the record was 3 hours....?
It's not the amount of rolls...but time. The issue is a crowded table with prop bet mania could delay a roll a minute or 2. At 2 minutes...that's a 30 roll. Nice, but by no means anything that should qualify for Gold Arm status.
DoubletapDave, these craps tournaments are a lot of fun and you might pick up some pocket change. As some on this forum might remember, I won a major award for dice control at Harrah's New Mexico last year for $25,000. It was billed as the World Greatest Dice Controller Championship....
what about "thank you very much"
But not necessarily a "picture frame", rite TT? Lol. Just sayin.
No, he just throws shit on a wall and hope it sticks!
That's why I don't play there. Everyone walks the dog in the hope of stretching a mediocre hand into a hour long roll.
Main Street Station and Downtown Grand are my personal favorites downtown. Main Street Station can get hectic if a fresh plane load of Hawaiians are there.
When you see the pit critters going through the pictures in their Black Book to see if you're in it you may be reaching the point where you're skilled.
I thought the Hawaiians hung out at the Cal - I don't like the Cal though, last time I checked they only have double odds.
I think both of those casinos may have charters from Hawaii. The only time I'm in the Cal these days is using it as a shortcut walking through. Since I have a Boyd card we usually park in the Main Street Station parking garage.
Is there a visible clock at each table that gets reset for every shooter?
Maybe I'm missing something but it seems pretty clear & simple number of rolls before a 7out. Mmmmm
What's this time, clock reset, prop bet, Hawaiian Hula Hula dance crowd business...etc.
I could be wrong, but me thinks you're confusing it with another competition?
Showing up is 1/2 the battle, if you can pull yourself away from the Bubble.
$ 2 5, 0 0 0.0 0 usd
The Golden Arm club is based on time....not number of rolls before a 7 out.
I'm told these craps tournaments are less about long rolls and more about who bet boxcars with half their bankroll at the right moment.
To get a golden arm placard on the wall you have to roll for over an hour which is different from the tournament referenced in the original post.
I don't know if they use a clock or surveillance video if someone believes they rolled for an hour. The craps table has always been a zoo when I pass through so I keep right on walking. I prefer empty tables.
This may require a downtown visit to clarify...
Unless anyone knows how they handle this.
The easy way would by a simple stamp type clock..touch the top before each new shooter. I can't imagine they re-roll the security to see when the roll started.
TDV ~ No , Golden Arm requires 60 or more rolls!
Yesterday 5-21-2015, I ran into an expired M~O~N~S~T~E~R . R~O~L~L!
I was cruising Casino's in downtown Las Vegas when I entered Fitzgeralds Casino. I seldom go into Fitzgeralds, as they have two Huge 18 Foot Long Tables. It was 2:45 pm, & as I entered,at the table closest to the street there was a Casino Host with a Clip Board talking to a customer @ the left end of the table The guy was about 6' 3" tall, about 60' ish & looked like he could have played in the NFL.
As I walked up, I heard the Host say, what size Jacket do you want? He replied XXX Large. This alerted me, as they provide Free Jackets only to players that have thrown 60 times before a 7 OUT!
His end of the table was empty, but there were four people standing to the right side, with BIG STACKS of Chips waiting to Color Out. I saw $800+ to $2100 color out on these players, but I am sure that the other side had some much bigger Color Outs.
Fitzgeralds has an Electronic Counter on the table to count the # of throws made by each player. This counter was on ( 79 ), yes Seventy Nine, WOW!
That is one of those Once in a lifetime Rolls to be on, Unfortunately, I was two hours late for this one!
Fitzgeralds has a Hot Roller area with Placques for players that have Hit 60 or more. I reviewed this area & this Guy's 79 Rolls was the First 2015 Placque that I Saw (I will review this closer next time I get downtown).
Yes, CRAPS Players DREAM ~ ON!
The RULES in Post #1, on this thread say that only the TOP 12 Players in # of Rolls before the dreaded 7'Out will Qualify for the Free Tournament!
Everything I have read states it is a **time** basis. In excess of 1 hour roll gets you on the Golden Arm wall. Now you tell me it is a minimum of 60 rolls?....what if you are there for 1.5 hours and have a 7 out at 59 rolls? You are not included?
