Bob Uecker an glaring omission. He should get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame based solely his performance in Major League.

Former long-time voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Joe Tait, is a personal favorite of mine. Doug Collins was the best NBA Analyst I have listened to.

You guys are a tough audience. Brent deserves to be on the list for introducing the world to Katherine Webb, if nothing else. This is 40 seconds of great sports tv history. You might have missed it while you were out biting dogs.

Uecker is in the Baseball Hall of Fame, in part because of great play-by-play calls such as this one:

Howard Cosell was absolutely the worst. He's one of the few broadcasters I can think of who should have been banned from using a microphone. How the FCC didn't find his monotone drivel obscene is incomprehensible. I'm surprised nobody has tried selling Cosell's recordings as an alternative to capital punishment, but if it happened Amnesty International might have an easy appeal for cruel and unusual punishment.

Ya slud inta third ahead-a me with Mel Allen, but this guy faked y'all inta da popcorn machine:

Do I detect a veritable plethora of animosity? May I assume you are not partial to pugilism, Cosell's prefered sport to promulgate? I readily concede that Cosell was an acquired taste and that his analyses away from the ring (e.g. on Monday Night Football) were occasionally more obfuscatory than enlightening. Nevertheless, I often found no small amount of humor in his descriptions of the mundane in terms befitting an oration before the Supreme Court.

Let me clarify my previous statement: When he was behind the mic, Cosell had a unrivaled penchant for ruining the sporting event being televised.

I will go so far as to stipulate "deflect attention from" the event to himself. I remember a televised MLB game for which he was a second analyst. Tony Kubek, ex-Yankee shortstop and the regular analyst at the time, stated that he thought baseball was the sport that required the highest level of hand-eye co-ordination. Cosell immediately took him to task, citing race car driving as an example of a sport in which, at the very least, the cost of failure was higher. Kubek didn't say another word during the game, nor do I recall Cosell ever again announcing a game on ABC's Monday Night Baseball.

I -- along with millions of other victims -- had the misfortune of being forced to endure his incessant babble during Monday Night Football games.

Wonder if it's too late to sue ABC?

The issue I have with Duke Vitale is he thinks Coach K walks on water. He's a Duke fanboy/apologist/suck-up to the Nth degree.

Might I be permitted to introduce a sub-category to this thread: announcing teams? If so I would nominate Phil Schoen (play-by-play) & Ray Hudson (analysis) of BeIN Sports.
