Fairly new to craps - been practicing my hardway sets with 4-2 showing. Averaging around 8 rolls before 7 out, almost always with a 1-6. In the plus but want more!!! Advice? Thanks

I understand the key to this whole dice control thing is practice.....just keep practicing and you will notice improvement.......that's what they say..........PRACTICE.

Personally, I think it's a bunch of bullshit myself...but what do I know. It's a terrible thing to lose all hope. Hang on to that life-line and keep practicing.

That I will.....a buddy of mine, who actually taught me the game, changes his set up every 2-3 rolls. I've been primarily sticking with the same set. So far, it appears that it's better to be lucky than good!

Averaging around 8 rolls BEFORE the Seven Out? YOU have the Keys to the vault.

Just wait until TD heard this " Averaging 8 rolls BEFORE the Seven Out" bullshit. Lol

Ask any heart surgeon their opinion on that subject
Patients of those doctors may also have an opinion

In fairness to the OP, he has not indicated how many sessions or different number of times shooting the dice. All he indicated was he is "fairly new to craps". So if he has only been the shooter on 2 occasions and rolled a total of 17 times...not a statistically relevant sample IMO. The more frequently he shoots, the greater the likelihood he will begin to approach "expected" numbers.

But, hey, there is always the statistical outlier who can defy expectations for whatever reason. I think we have one or 2 (or more) of those folks who claim this achievement right here on this forum. If it's indeed happening, good for them. Besides, I think 777 summed it up quite well in post #2 (above), "it's a terrible thing to lose all hope".

It would depend how "new to craps" he is....

If he just started? Hell, I've held 9 SRR for 70+ rolls....and I believe a bubbler here has had some 7+ SRR runs with 300+ rolls calculated.

    Look at it this way....
There were 100 trials for 1,000 rolls

2 out of 100 were above 7 SRR. Low 7, but nevertheless.

    None exceeded 8.

There was one outlier on 1,000 rolls on an additional 320 trials. You'll flip when you hear what it was.
12.35 SRR. There was no other trial even remotely close. We called him Mr. Dice. Well deserved.

Once the number of rolls got up to 10,000....the best the trials offered were (on edit, gotta re check that one)...6.3

There can be outliers...but when you mention that, everyone claims to be the outlier. LOL.

    At 40,000 rolls (a lifetime?)...trials indicated MAX 6.2.

And before the peanut gallery starts screaming "these trials are only for random rollers".....yes, the trial assumes that based on a RNG.

6.2 Max over 40,000 rolls for a Random Roller? Well.....I have always said that the So-Called "Elite" shooters are only an eyelash above random, .....so what does THAT tell ya?.......6.235 for the "Elite" shooter over 40,000 rolls! Lol.

    The defense rests!

    what is that anyway?...40,000 rolls?

assume play once a week, getting the dice 5 times x 8.5 average rolls.

    My bad..that's 18 years

Yep....with James Hall being the exception. YOU are the ONLY shooter that has a LONG TERM SRR of 8 or better.
