Well the main reason I joined this forum was that I was slightly conned out of $97 for an extremely dubious "system" by a so-called craps "expert" on the way to being conned out of an additional $500.00 for even more dubious classes.

Luckily, I neither gambled with his "system" nor went for the $500 lesson. I decided that I had better get as much advice and information as I can and find and connect with the "right" people before I spend any more money and or start playing craps without being properly trained or taught.

So I'm joining this and other forums and and investing in some recommended basic books on craps which cost a lot less than the $97.

Anyway I do have some general questions that I'd like to put out there to the community...

1.) I am located in Mid-Hudson Valley mid-upstate NY and I'd appreciate some advice re: casinos that host real craps tables that are reasonably near to where I'm located. My brief search revealed a multitude of "Racinos" hosting electronic crap games which I figure are a waste of time and money.

2.) Are there any face to face Craps, clubs, groups, or crews, etc... that I could hook up with in my area?

3.) For practice and education and training, I've purchased Win-Crap which looks like a good training tool. I've also located some free and paid on-line craps web-sites and I'm eager to hear what the consensus is about on-line craps.

4.) I've also noticed a lot of discussion about Dice Control and the need for alot training and practice.

Can anyone suggest a good practice DC rig? I'm a fairly handy carpenter, so I'm interested in blueprints, DIY kits, or portable knock-down easily assembled units.

5.) Lastly I'm open to any suggestions for any DVD and on-line courses for both Craps betting, money management, and DC.

Wishing you all the best and I look forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully meeting up with you all at a casino somewhere...

First welcome to the forum.A new casino opened in Schenectady. Also you have Turning Stone.
As a carpenter you should have no problems building a rig.I would use American fast billiard cloth as your top covering to match more closely today's microfiber tables. Also use magnets - wooden dowels are not equipped for constant assembly.I would use a thicker wood base also.Do some research.
Look to formulate a betting strategy.Lot of things to consider.

TY for your input. BTW Have you noticed tha ALMOST ALL Craps "Experts" and Gurus start off by saying... "No craps betting system works!"

and then proceed to promote their own pet "system" or "method"... lol

To TG about systems and such. I have noticed over a long time of being at a craps table that there seems to be a trend of certain numbers thrown more than others. Small bets and watching may prove well for you. Try place bets on these numbers in small amounts etc. It works for me at times. Like all things even this may be fleeting. Love the challenge or don't play!!

Good morning TJ and welcome to the forum.

    I recommend reading the 'beginners'
    and 'general' craps forums...

...starting from the last page and working forward. It can take a month or so but in one way better than a book.

That is ...the {passionate} contention of opposing thoughts on any system discussed that you rarely get in a book.

As far as dice control goes I suppose if your nimble with slight of hand, Penn and Teller type street magic ...turning coins into eggs, making cards disappear etc. It's not unreasonable that it could be learned...throwing way less 7's means a longer roll and hitting more number$.

But craps is gambling, The dice are always paying off a number, hopefully your chips are there on that number.

The only reality is that the longer your in a casino the more you will lose.

btw another Upstate casino is Turning Stone in Verona NY seen from interstate 90.

    TG -

It might be worth your while to check out " www.dicecoach.com " - Beau has a slew of free and " for pay " videos for viewing on his site and a wealth of other information you may find beneficial.

Beau also sells a high quality break-down and portable receiving and throwing stations.

Also, " www.executivecasinotours.com " which is located in Bergen County, NJ might help you with your question #2. Amato periodically sponsors private table craps games at Casear's in AC and also organizes other craps junkets, check out his web-site for further info.

In addition to Beau, Heavy www.axispowercraps.com , and Howard Rock'N'Roller ( links to Howard from Beau's web-site ) can provide training info as well as the Mad Professor's Craps Archives are full of useful information .

Until New York opens up that new casino just over the NY-NJ state line around Harriman, CT, PA and AC,NJ or Upstate NY are your best bets for live table games.

    Good Luck,

    $...eE..$

I take off from my ex's with gambling aged sons from the mid-Hudson NY area & head west to Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA. And a fun time is had by all.
In fact headed that way Xmas.

Of course all may change when Schenectady's Rivers Casino opens up, assuming they offer live craps.

    Welcome TG,

Learn what you can about the game in a book or on-line, then go to an on-line craps table like WoV and try out some of the wagers.

See what works best for you and which wagers you are most comfortable playing. When there is no money at risk, there is not much to worry about, so bet as you wish.

Play the game a number of different ways, and see what appeals to you. Keep in mind that when money is on the line, you will want to play wagers you are most comfortable with. Your play will likely change with your experiences, and you'll probably make a number of different bets.

When you get into a casino, let us know how things went.

If you're referring to Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady, New York, the Grand Opening is currently scheduled for February 8, 2017. So a few more months to go before it is open for business.

Live craps should be offered at the new Rivers Casino in Schenectady.

    https://riverscasinoandresort.com/casino/table-games/

BTW, sister casino Rivers Casino (Des Plaines, Illinois) has 5 craps tables and it's a smaller facility (but in a great location).

Neat that you can have a fun gambling adventure with the sons! None of my sons gamble, or at least not anymore. In fact some of my close relatives took to the other side, my grandson was a dealer, now he is a pit boss, just got promoted a few weeks ago. :)
