I've been told there are still $3 tables in LV. As the wife is brand new to the game she wants to start on the lowest min table we can find. Personally, I have never played at a $3 table, prefer 5s if I can find them and sometimes have to go to 10-15. So...I am a place bettor, what denominations of bets do you place on a $3? I assume the payoffs are still 9/5, 7/5, 7/6? Those don't work out too well in $3 increments (save the 6/8). Am I missing something here?

    Casino will round down. If 1 dollar chips used, payoffs are: 6/8= 1:1....5/9= 4:3....4/10= 5 : 3.

You should consider being a come bettor on a 3 dollar table.

I haven't seen a 3 dollar table downtown in awhile. Doesn't mean they are never there, but I would think $5 is the lowest you're going to find. At least the downtown casinos tend to follow a custom that if they raise the minimum on a table, and you're already playing, you can stay at the minimum you started at.

Binions in Las Vegas Downtown has $3 tables and a great time to play is in the 5am - 7am time range. I have found empty tables, really good dealers, although the pit personel are "testy", but with a bit of a toke, the dealers are more than willing to assist a new player.
It does take a bit for the coffee to show up but did learn last August that toking the dealers, the coffee gal was around alot.

There are two casino for beginners and persons w/ small starting bank account. One should get there before 5pm to take advantage of the center prop bets are less than a $1. Once 5pm hits one should just look for a $5 table else where. The two casinos are the Joker s Wild and the RailRoad Pass both on Boulder Hwy on the way to the Hoover Dam. The Slots of Fun was the last of the $1 tables on the Strip but no more. Just off the Strip I would suggest Ellis Island Casino, they have a shorty $5 table and great eats also. If you are a early gambler there are alot of table on the strip for $5 but at 4pm the table min jump up. This trend started soon after the opening of the Wynn.

Thanks guys for the replies. Seems most of the ones downtown are $5 min that I have looked at. Trying to figure out a decent strategy for her to use minimum bankroll so she can be at the table a nice long while without worry of losing her stack. Maybe min place bets on 6 and 8? She isn't willing to learn about the odds at this point and basically just wants to come and see how the game works, she has kind of watched me in the past and seen people yelling/cheering at a hot roll and is curious as to how it all works. I'm trying to pry her chips away from the roulette table!

Up yonder here in the wilds of downtown Reno, we still offer a $3 game the majority of the time, popping the limits up only on busy weekends or if the game is slammed with a bunch of players betting $5+ on weekdays. Most joints up here DO round down the payoffs to the .50 mark.

Casino Royale on the strip has $3 tables, also have 100x odds if you play $5 PL / DPL (10x for the $3, which is still great)

Game moves FAST, best craps pit on the strip and it IS better to come bet than place on a $3 table...

Another plug for Casino Royale (near Harrahs).

I was there in January 2011 and they had $3 min all day and all night. During the day there were a lot of beginners and the dealers were accomodating, which made for a nice group of people routing for the shooters (I think they are used to getting the begginer tourists). At night it's not as nice and more smokey. I think any place with $5 min or less is going to be smokey.

I recommend your wife start there. Bet $3 PL and Come bets with either $3 odds (4, 10), $4 odds (5, 9), or $5 odds (6, 8) and/or $5 place bets (6, 8). All those bets will pay full value and that's plenty of action for a begginer, perhaps too much.

I came across a $3 table at Whiskey Petes at primm on the state line CA/NV. BUT on my most recent trip about 4 months ago, I was really looking forward to that $3 crap game on my way home from a sub par LV visit, it was not spread! I asked a pit boss what happened to the 3$ crap table? He replied that they weren't ospreading it... like a buncha chickens. ..they had no crap game whole night!. I don't know if they ever brought it back. Since I haven't been back.

Gold Coast next to the Rio

    $5 mins 24 and 7

Plus they have this great Asian vibe with Chinese dealers named "Rick" and "Sam"...hahahaha

FWIW, I love Gold Coast....call me crazy, but I've won more at GC than anywhere else in Las Vegas....and I've hit em all, folks....

    medicman,

    Hear me out.....

The best place to learn to play craps is online.

Online, you get a real looking table with chips that go where your computer pointer puts them.

I can take the online roll stats. and lay them next to real table roll stats.....and.... you wil NOT be able to tell which is which !

The online Casino I am using is :

    www.bovadascasino.com

They have a way to get by the bogus US no-play regulations. They are a Canadian Indian Tribe.

My last FedX check was + $ 500.01 and it was from them. Their RNG seems fair.

They have $1.00 min bet to + $100.00 max. bets in craps. WOW !..... a 1 to 100 bet spread ....sweet !

Go to the Bovada Casino site....click-on the craps table..... and play in ... " practice mode. "

I played in practice mode for days, all the time writing down the rolls.....

You will begin to see RNG'ed outcome patterns.

So....four days ago, I bought in for + $100.00 on my Visa.

I made the mistake of taking their ' sign up bonus. ' ( I HAD IT REVERSED TO ZERO CREDITS ) If you take it, your play

in BJ...CRAPS...ROULETTE AND BACCARAT WILL NOT...NOT...NOT COUNT TOWARDS YOUR PLAY-THROUGH REQUIREMENTS.

DO NOT TAKE IT AND DO NOT...NOT...NOT TAKE ANY CASH ' REWARDS' ...CAUSE..... THE SAME BOGUS PLAY-THROUGH

    REQUIREMENTS WILL KICK-IN.

Anyway, using the Martin Silverthorne ' Neural ' 32- step neg. progression, at the $1.00 to $3.00 real $$$$ game level...

    I have my $100.00 buy-in up over ......+ $512.00.

My Bovada stats-board says I have played over $10,000.00 in real- $$$$ bets.

I think I hear the FedX truck getting ready to make a new ' run ' to my house ?

    Thoughts ?

I was at Casino Royal in August, Friday night around 1 am. Still had $3 minimum. I don't think it ever goes up. If someone has been there when the min. wasn't $3 please chime in.

Was in LV this weekend. Difficult to find even $5 on the strip but Harrah's had a $5 at night and Casino Royale had 2 $3 tables all time. Plenty of $3 on Fremont St. and had a great time down there. Service at Casino Royale was impeccable. Drink order every 15 mins max and the craps guys were very helpful with minor suggestions (odds, etc) and questions.

Last time I was at Casino Royale ( 18 months ) the table was a 14(?) footer and when you leaned against it to support yourself, it tended to rock a bit. Not only was that an issue, but from my position (stick left 1 ) I was always wondering what made up the sticky substance that was always around my feet. This was during the week in the am, and you are right the dealers were helpful, although a few were pretty beat up from I assume spending a lifetime living in Vegas.

It was not crowded and to me was a good place to get several hands with the dice so that I could get in a little dice toss practice. Hey for $3.00 its a cheap way to get in some practice.

By the way, how about a little Trip Report about your various craps adventures last weekend.

    And of course,

    Welcome to the Board,

    Eagle -

CR does have a little feel of a strip club and shouldn't be mistaken for it's neighbor The Venitian on any level! My wife is still still in LV tonight for a conference and she is back at Royale with a friend playing the slots there b/c they've had good luck with them (they are up again tonight for the 3rd night). For someone trying to learn craps or test different strategies, CR is the best deal on the strip in my opinion.

I was in Vegas September 8 thru 12. I played at Jerry's Nugget because of their ever present $2.00 and $3.00 tables. It's part of my Vegas ritual to head over there. My friend who lives there turned me on to Jerry's. I love shooting from 1 right of stick. As I've mentioned on another post, I do love the Paris Casino and Sam's Town.
