So i just returned from AC. Been playing about a year, reading, watching video, practicing and reading the forum - thought I could influence the dice! Didn't go to well - had some decent rolls but not enough. Anyway, I noticed that I did better from further away, tossing at a lower angle and giving the dice a chance to roll on axis before hitting the wall. Anyone else do this? Thanks

I think most people understand the dice do not stay on access. It would be nice if
    they did, but they don't.

What most guys find if they work on their shot, is that some positons on the
table work better than others, and most that depends on your size,or the type
of shot you throw. For instance a GTC shot revolved around the axis and the further
you are from the back wall the more revolutions the dice make and then there is
much more room for results that vary.
The PARR shot is about the same.
Any inline shot still has revolutions, many more than a GTC shot, so with that
shot both dice have to do about the same thing to be affective.

Keep some records and see if there are any trends which you see from different
positions and then just try to play from the place on the table that produces the
best results for you. what some one else does wont help because you are the one
    shooting.

    good luck

One thing you might want to think about is
The more the dice roll the more prone you are to a seven
Once the dice settle you are almost always only one surface away from a 7
Simply stated , it is the rolling that causes many of the sevens

That's the ‘Blanket Roll’, which has been in use for over a century. The idea is to get the dice to roll end over end to prevent certain outcomes. Next to impossible on a craps table, but easier in a street game.

The shooter sets the ace and the six on the outside edges. If the dice stay on axis and roll end over end like cartwheels, the shooter will roll a seven or a number, but not a yo or craps.

Then, say, the point was a five or a nine, he would face the 6 and 5 on the inside, and the chance of rolling a 5 or 9 would be even, rather than 3 to 2 against.

Comparisons of DI to sports typically generate raucous laughter and copious flames. Damning the torpedos, I have incorporated principles from two sports into my attempts at DI (with marginal success at best :(), and it sounds like you have taken a similar approach.

Back when I played golf somewhat regularly -- could break 80 on a good day -- I found I was more accurate taking a full swing than a partial one. Consequently I would intentionally underclub on occasion so as not to have to "choke up" a wedge or 9-iron on the next shot.

Back when I was in two bowling leagues -- carried a 186 average -- I aimed at the spots on the lane instead of at the pins themselves. I actually learned to do this early on in my kegling career; it is easier to hit a target that is close than one that is far away.

Yep, I always underclub. Would rather keep my swing consistent in speed, length and mechanics.

Well skulker, your analogy to sports in reference to dice shows you do have the patience and wit to obtain skills in a particular sport you can get pretty good at with determination and analytical tactics for positive outcomes. Dont let the trials and tribulations bog you down...

Who knows you might get better at it.

the title of this thread reminds me of a joke.

someone was asking people how many positions they know, and some guy in the back shouted out 103!

then a shy woman in front squeaked out, I only know one position, missionary.

then the guy in the back yelled out, 104!

Hey Morgsta, how are you doing? Good to see you posting again.
This actually reminds me of a comic I once saw, probably in a newspaper, where a middle aged couple were lying in bed in their pj's and each reading a book, before lights out I assume.
The title of the husband's book was '101 positions' and the title of the wife's book was '102 excuses'.

It's good to be back. Had a couple trips to the table which got my mind on the dice again.
Keep thinking I'm going to get down there, but life gets in the way.

For "position" references" I recommend you consult the Kama Sutra. :)

yeah, like position means much......I personally like to stand near stick since its easier to watch my bets and reach for chips.
but as far as di tossing, it doesn't mean diddly squat to me, I have a beautiful toss, that and a dollar will get you......uh, nothing today.
its always about the timing. I don't care if youre playing in ohio, las vegas, NY, or Australia. Position means little as far as results.
