    hello

lets say I want to bet ALL place numbers, the 4,5,6,8,9,10

how do you tell the dealer? do you just say $10 on each place number

i dont want to sound like an idiot in atlantic city next weekend

also, say you say "66 across" that universally means the 5,6,8,9 right?

    thanks

If you intend to bet 10 dollars on each, tell then $64 across, including. That tells them you want all six numbers including the point. Some places will insist you put the bet for the number that is the point in front of you straddling the line closest to you on the pass line. That way they know its a place bet instead of a pass line bet.

    $66 inside is a $15 5/9, $18 6/8.

As you know, there are six "box" numbers. Since the six and eight can not be bet for the exact same amount as the "outside" numbers, your six bets will not all be for the same amount.

At a $10 minimum table, four numbers can be bet for $10, the other two numbers will require $12.

As a relatively famous all across player would tell the dealer, "Sixty-four across".

I know you do not want my opinion on the matter, but I would recommend saving $14 to $16 and placing or buying a single bet for $48 or $50. Pays much better than piddling on all six numbers. To each his own.

With the high vig on outside place bets, start with beefier 6&8 bets and expand after two hits. Consider a trip to Mississippi where outside buy bets start at $20 with vig on win!

The dealer will have seen if you made a PL bet on the come out. If you have a PL bet and then ask for $X across or $Y inside, the dealer will assume you do NOT want to place the point because you already have a bet covering the point and would be better off using the money as odds.

Sometimes you give too much or too little for the bets. No worries, the dealer should be able to work with you and figure out what bets and associates amounts you want.

Before you throw chips onto the table, make sure the dice are in the middle (shooter doesn't have them) and know what bets you want to make.

Finally, make sure the dealer has set up your bets properly. In a loud casino at a busy craps table with chips coming in from multiple players, mistakes can happen. Know where your spot (position) is in the number box so you can easily identify what bets are yours.

Good luck & have fun in AC.

Good catch, and something even veterans should always do regardless of how good the crew appears to be. Some years ago I had a $15 DC moving behind 9. "Lay 45," I said and put my chips down, heeled. Dealer took my chips as the dice went out, then told me I had given him only $40. I was 99.44% sure I had counted out $45 but tossed him another nickel to make up the alleged shortage. The dealer added it to my odds, then asked if I wanted odds on my 10!

Apparently I had gotten carried away when I plopped down my odds behind 9, letting the bottom chip drift into the Come box. "Well, now we know what happened to the missing nickel," I said. I suppose I could have asked for the nickel back, and I just might have at my local haunt where they know me and would probably have indulged me, but I was in enemy territory and figured it was divine guidance anyway. It wasn't, but at least the 9 missed.

Four years on the forum, and you don't know proper place betting terminology? You wouldn't be related to TD, would you? It's the only plausible explanation. :)

Duck is the forum's conspiracy quack. He/she/it also thinks hydrogen and oxygen atoms are getting together and conspiring against the human race. Duck is mostly harmless, albeit a bit misguided with some of the conspiracy beliefs.

What Do you think, there are NO conspiracies? If you want to trust Hydrogen and oxygen, that's your business, but I recommend you wear a life jacket. Do you think it's just a coincidence, that they are both present at nearly all drownings? Huh? Yeah, just a coincidence, sure.

Most deaths in plane crashes are due to the in-flight meals. Everybody was dead before the crash. The "crash" is just a coverup. What, you think those planes just spontaneously combust? If the planes incendiaries malfunction, then they run the survivors down, with the fire truck.
