Lockdown is the New Norm, But All is Not Lost As Virtual Museums Open
With UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson instructing the closure of museums and galleries across the UK, one by one their doors have shut this week after stringent new ‘lockdown’ measures were implemented aimed at tackling the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The good news is history and art lovers can now view thousands of artifacts, paintings and sculptures in minute detail as they explore virtual museums themselves on various online platforms. From interactive 360-degree videos and full “walk-around” tours with voiceover descriptions, to zoomable photos and slide shows of the world’s greatest artworks, allowing viewers to get closer to the art world than they could ever have got in real life.

It Takes More Than a Virus Lockdown to Stop Culture and Education
According to the Museum Association , the London’s Wellcome Collection was among the first UK venues to announce its closure last week and almost all institutions in London are now closed with many more across the country closing this week and many have indicated that they will be staying shut until at least 1 May. The National Trust announced that it would close all of its buildings, shops and cafes, but outdoor spaces would remain open so people could use them for exercise during the crisis, free of charge.

The "worst case scenario" is not likely to happen because people start to follow the "distancing rules" once the situation escalates. Still, the death rate in Europe and the U.S. For "KNOWN" cases, seems to be substantially higher than anybody is saying. Nobody knows how many cases go "UNKNOWN", so, absolute numbers are very difficult to determine. Currently there are about 80 thousand cases, in the U.S.., as of 3/26. Let's see how long it takes that to double.

They decided to bring this thing into the state that they, and their families, all live and work in? Did they also bring it to Italy, France, Spain, etc. and why?
As long as we're speculating, try this.
Trump "arranged" it, to Euthanize the sick and elderly, to drastically reduce the looming Social Security and Medicare burden, and make Himself look "great" again. it appears to me, he is exploiting this thing, for just that reason.

So, we have a vendor that will make 80,000 ventilators locally. Worth their weight in gold, right?

They want $12,500 a pop, that's a cool $1 billion. Nice round number. We said go ahead, then change our mind and want to get additional bids. I can't believe this. People likely will die over the weekend, choking for air. Not a good way to go. The lucky ones will die in their sleep.

Where is the SENSE OF URGENCY in Washington? Heads should roll.

why dont you spend a minute looking for good news about the virus....it is out there..here is a report from Washington

EvergreenHealth Medical Center, two miles from the shuttered Lifecare nursing home where 35 patient deaths were linked to the virus, officials say their rate of new covid-19 cases has remained steady for two weeks, leveling off at a trickle. On some days, doctors here see just one new case and haven’t seen more than four in a single day since mid-March.

We will get past this you are not going to die from it, but we will pay a terrible price because panic by people like you and panic caused on purpose by democrats to win an election have sent this country into a deep deep recession, which in turn hurt many parts of the world that depends on our markets..... and why?????

as Schumer said yesterday...the private sector cant fix this, government has to......and it was the government that caused it, not the private sector.

    imagine that.

The wife bought me a new Spring suit from Amazon. Just arrived. If I lose a couple pounds, it'll fit perfectly. I asked for a khaki poplin, but she got khaki latex. It'll do just fine.

a few weeks ago, maybe 2 weeks ago? that asshole mayor of NYC and nyc health commissioner held a press conference in Chinatown NY, and told everyone to stop with the racism(because trump shut down Chinese travel), told everyone to come down to Chinatown and feast. Instead of telling NYers be careful, the virus is here, and will spread fast, that asshole told everyone to go party. A fucking dumb ass democrat. and Im not thrilled with many republicans either.

last week, MY bil and sil went for a walk on boardwalk in Long beach long island,(that night my bil felt ill, but he feels great and is returning to work), anyway, a picture they sent us showed how many people were out on the boardwalk, impossible to keep 6 feet away when people are walking up and down, people on bikes, kids running around, and I said, maybe I should call the mayor of long beach and tell that asshole we are in the middle of a pandemic, what the fuck is wrong with him, didn't he see all the spring breakers not caring, and now the virus is spreading thru the ny metro area faster than any former virus ever? It burns me that not even the people running the municipalities feel the need to be a bit cautious.
let people walk the streets for exercise, not congregate on the boardwalk, and ofcourse, yesterday, knowing the nice weather coming, he shut the boardwalk as of today I believe. why did that asshole wait? it makes no sense, everyone still is waiting? all this shit should have been done a month ago. We will never kill this virus, either it dies off by itself, or we just accept that old people with health problems are checking out, as cold as that sounds.

Im all for other parts of America getting back to work. no need to worry if 9 people in a state that is under lockdown now are infected. a lot of places seem to have it under control due to small populations spread out.

NY is fucked, andy is acting like he gives a shit, heres a gov who never gave a shit about NY, always underfunded anything NYC related, or downstate related. this is the same guy that said, put casinos up north, not where the population is, put factories up north, bring industry up north ny state, all of that failed, failed miserably.
He hates NYers, even though hes from queens, he hasn't done a fucking thing for this city in all the years. And diblasio, the most incompetent mayor of NY of all times.
he is a raging fucking moron.

on a side good note, 60 thousand retired health care workers volunteered to go back to work, I was not one of them. Im no saint, but we made an agreement with some neighbors who are up in age, if they need us, we will do their shopping, and pick up their meds if at anytime they feel unsafe to go out if things get much worse. we checked with 2 super senior neighbors(over 85), knocked on their doors, spoke with them thru the doors, let them know, we are here, but both said they had an abundance of relatives that were handling everything they needed.
I went to hardware store this morning, I needed some stain, and I know its not a good reason to leave house, but I need to work, and that was all I was missing.
hardware store has cones outside, no one can go in, knock, they come to door, cones were set up so each person on line waits as a cone. but no one was there except me.
masks and gloves, at least people are trying .
across the street, I noticed a car wash was open, but it was only open for law enforcement, and the police officers were wiping down and spraying down their rides themselves, so I gather the owner just did them all a favor, no staff, I saw one officer with the spray gun hitting his tires.
and that's it, my rant is over, going out to work, beautiful day, hope the infection rate slows down
    everyone stay safe.

oh, the joke of the pandemic . all I see on newsstations is people cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, public places, subways, hand rails. etc........and anyone in this country that feels secure with that, are delusional.
the lowest paying job in America, like cleaners in any industry, give a rats ass about doing a perfect job, yeah, right, 9 dollars an hours. Its nothing but a façade to sooth nervous americans, Casinos will open eventually, hotels will open eventuallymass transit, etc..., but they will be just as filthy as they always have been.

    Dated 3/26.....CDC

Still looks high to me. Weighted average with actual population would still be around 1% fatality of total population. If 35% of US population caught it, that would still be 1.7 million dead.

VonActuary- please check out and advise........Thanks, MI

Between the great condom shortage and people at home with nothing to do the increase in babies 9 months from now will more than offset the deaths from Kung Flu.

That is not going to happen, Washington has already had a large decrease , new york
went from double every 3 days to 4, that is huge, Italy has slowed down, china almost stopped.
This virus can either be stopped, or it stops itself as it spreads.

Our medical people are learning by the hour, maybe, just maybe, this is the first time we
can stop something like this before it plays out fully......I am betting on us

I do not give us much hope when it come to politics, we never seem to learn anything there.
