It's amazing more people weren't seriously injured by those old-time torture instruments. I had a pair and didn't much care for them.

You can thank YouTube for most of that; sometimes when I get the urge to play something that spontaneously comes to mind an off-the-wall selection pops up on the sidebar. I did manage to catch a few tunes on the radio back then and even scrounged up a few "quid" on occasion to get an album or two, Foreigner's "4", for example, The Commodores' album that had this one on it, ...

... and an album with this song on it, though I don't think it was this version.

Not sure how big a fan of Spooky Tooth you are, but I did include 4 songs from Foreigner - which included former ST member Mick Jones -- earlier today. Spooky Tooth's 1972-74 lineup included Dream Weaver himself, Gary Wright and Jones. Spooky.

If only I could still -- make that, could ever play like that.

My picks for Thursday, February 28, 2019 -- Duets, Part 5

    Duets, Part 1
    Duets, Part 2
    Duets, Part 3
    Duets, Part 4

Lucky -- Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat. This is a good song but surprisingly it didn't crack the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US). It peaked at "only" #48 in February 2009, yet to date the video has 138M+ views on YouTube. Go figure.

Where the Wild Roses Grow (live) -- Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds featuring Kylie Minogue. This song is hauntingly beautiful and is off the band's album, Murder Ballads. Quite fitting title -- not just because that's what the songs are about -- as Nick Cave reminds me of someone I've seen on Investigation Discovery channel... A dark overtone is often a theme in the band's songs. Kylie still looks good after all these years.

I Just Fall in Love Again (live) -- Anne Murray & Dawn Langstoth. A mother/daughter duet. This is a remake of a song Murray recorded that peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 (US) in April 1979.

Homeward Bound (live) -- Paul Simon & George Harrison. Never heard of these guys before. They're pretty good. :D

My picks for Friday, March 1, 2019 -- On this day in music history...

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds -- The Beatles. On this day in 1967, the group began recording this song began at Abbey Road Studios. It's a children's song, dammit, just like Puff (Puff Pass) the Magic Dragon.

I've Been Loving You -- Elton John. On this day in 1968, the first solo single by the singer/songwriter is released. Unlike the big hits that would be released in the years ahead, the lyrics to this song were not co-written by Bernie Taupin. And it shows, lol.

Time -- Pink Floyd. On this day in 1973, the group released its seminal album, Dark Side of the Moon. The album would remain on the Billboard charts for a record 741 discontinuous weeks between 1973-1988. Every collection of rock music worth a salt has a copy (or 3) of this album.

Smells Like Teen Spirit -- Nirvana. On this day in 1994, the group played their final concert in Munich, Germany. On April 8th, Kurt Cobain was found dead in his home, his death an apparent suicide.

*** Caution: Not safe for work. Contains adult / offensive language ***

The Rodeo Song -- Garry Lee & The Showdown. Might be the perfect song for that person you would never send a Hallmark card to.

If you're having a really bad day, you probably still would have done better than the woman on Family Feud:
