They are moving the opening up by 2 weeks to mid-February. I had thought they'd try to open by the holidays, but I guess that was too optimistic.

Seems the Chinese New Year is in February, so they want to capitalize on that to try to open with a real 'bang'. They are banking on an international clientele to support this ultra high end resort, they are focusing on Asians. Good luck.

Here's an article about the early opening....

    https://news.worldcasinodirectory.c...-two-weeks-early-employees-still-needed-51903

Note: they need 2000 employees? Not sure if there are enough able bodied people around this casino to fill that need.

Are there enough Asians around to fill their "want"? :)

catering to Asians, ya gotta love their build it and they will come attitude.

kiamesha lake, Monticello area, the borsch belt, maybe they should have tried to bring the jews from NYC back up there before they cater to the Asians.

    hope they make it.

The casino was going to be called 'Montreign'. A made up name, kind of like Haagen Daaz, that sounds good and makes you think of some mythical palace where only wonderful things happen. The entire tract of land with the resort, casino, golf course, ski runs, water park, etc. was to be called Adelaar, which is a real Dutch word meaning Eagle.

They scrapped all that and are taking a different approach.

    I will wait them out.

The $50 and $25 craps tables will be $5 eventually. Then I'll swoop in and "Load the Bases!".

its a bit ironic they cant find enough employees, after all, wasn't that a reason the governor only allowed casinos upstate and not downstate to help the job markets in those areas?

again, don't put casinos in heavily affluent areas, just stick them up in the boonies, makes a lot of sense.
but then again I went to a casino in Tonopah Nevada. hoohaa.how many people do you know that can say I stayed in the diamond jim suite.(how many people would actually want to stay in the diamond jim suite besides me)

I've been through Tonopah a few times.

I kinda like those Nevada towns frozen in time from long ago.

Tonopah, yeah, it's one of the best spots you'll find, to participate in the uniquely Nevada sport of "rock watching". :D Pretty good "plant hunting" too :)

bases, Id like to get up there mid march, unless the snow hasn't melted by then.
do you know if they will have the hotel up and running when they open mid February?
I don't want to commit until a few days before so I know what weather will be like.

    Liman, it's weird.

Resorts World themselves have not issued any information about the opening of the Casino/Hotel. The 'mid February' opening is being reported by a few news outlets, but not formally by the Casino.

Their website is still tailored to try and attract employees not customers.

I assumed the hotel will be ready at the same time as the casino.

Ok, the Resorts World Catskills website is now up and running and catering to customers. Some basic casino info. Players Card signup is there. The food options are outlined. Other stuff as well.

Hotel opening/reservation info is still kind of nebulous.

I've got a couple friends in northern NJ and they can't wait for this place to open. Catskills was such a sty when I played golf up there.

Had lunch at the bar a couple weeks ago at the Mizpah Hotel. Nice. Tonapah is a sleepy little town.

Casino next door was open but the tables (BJ) were closed. Maybe table? LOL. I think the sign said it was open Thurs-Sat 6pm-

I played golf at the 'Monster' twice. Back in the 80's. It was part of the Concord resort. Over 7500 yards from the tips. I refused to ride in a golf cart so I had to take a caddie. There were homeless looking guys milling around in front of the club house; they were the caddies. I took the next guy up, and it actually was pretty fun. The guy knew the course. He kept handing me my 3 wood on the tees, trying to keep me out of trouble. I said give me the big lumber, bud.

The Concord had a second course called the 'International'. They are using parts of the Monster and the International to reconfigure the new course for Resorts World. Price will probably be out of my league. There are/were nice courses at Kutcher's, and Grossingers too. The Town of South Fallsburg has a public course called 'Tarrie Brae'. It is very cool and fun to play.

Lochmor is the course in Loch Sheldrake. It is the 'sister' course of Tarrie Brae. Tarrie Brae is much nicer. They are both a little 'rough around the edges', but the greens are well maintained and the golf value for the price is very high.

The Village of South Fallsburg is a disaster, we have trouble finding a decent cup of coffee there.

But, this is all officially heading in the other direction now!

That's it..lochmor. There was another course I played too. Thinking.

Some of these owners were unscrupulous with our league. There were times it was pouring rain and since we were all coming from NJ....It was a bit of a drive. We would get the weather report and look at each other like "there's no way this course can be open in this monsoon".

They would tell us, "no, course is open".

Turns out....they just wanted to keep the greens fees because if they closed the course, we would get refunded. So....35 guys drive up there in pouring rain and then after we arrive they tell us the course is closed. Lotta cursing.

We figured that they figured we just wouldn't show up.

we used to go up to Kutschers all the time.
after they closed the concord hotel, the golf course and tennis courts remained open.
before I was really fat I used to play tennis there all the time.

my cousin met her husband in the concord, they were both servers in the dining room.

I was hoping with all the billions resorts was dumping into the new casino, they would reopen leftys.

frankies and johnnies in hurleyville, still there, but under a new name ofcourse.

and I don't recall which town, but used to go on sundays and get homemade knishes at one of the kosher establishments.

ah, the good ole days, but that entire area has turned into one large shithole as far as Im concerned.
we stopped by there one night maybe 6 or 7 years ago, what a disappointment, they repaved and renovated the entire main st in Monticello, but nothing was open and it seemed few stores were occupied.
the bagel store was open and packed with locals.
we stayed at the best western back then, a dump. but no other options close by the racetrack/racino

theres nothing up there worth going up there for, maybe now with the new casino.

resorts still isn't committing any dates as I couldn't find anything about reservations.

it wasn't all bad, we had fun driving up there weekends with my buddies, lots and lots of bored girls dying to get out of their parents bungalows at night, we had fun, maybe too much fun. youth is wasted on the young.
