Hello All,

This is my first post, I’m new to this forum and new to craps. I have only played at a casino twice, the first time under the tutelage of my intoxicated friend, where I made a pass line bet with double odds and placed the 6 and the 8 all evening at his guidance. I actually turned $40 into just under $300, which in hindsight was pretty lucky considering I was so under capitalized ($5 units). I’ve done some more research since that fateful night, and decided to try my luck last night with two friends.

I bought in for $200, and played a pass line bet with double odds and 1 come number, also with double odds. After about an hour, I was up $100 and some change, and would’ve probably quit, but being with friends, I decided to remember that thought for the next day and keep playing for fun, knowing that any other night, I would be better off walking a winner. Well, as it was, we all took a break after another hour or so, and I was up $12 after the session. We had a quick bite to eat and a beer, then decided to head back to the table. I took the dice right as I bought in, and rolled for a good 15 minutes, with the same pass line/come strategy I had been using. In hind sight, as the table heated up and the dice began to pass, I probably should have progressed my betting to taking triple odds or better, or maybe even taken a second come number. But, frankly, being that this is only my second session ever at a casino, I thought it would be better to be conservative- after all, I was still trying to figure out the etiquette, and keep track of all the betting during the excitement. In any case, I ended up walking away from the second session up $70 in addition to my original stake, and had a great time doing it. Other players ended up taking bigger swings than I, and may have won more if they walked away at the right time, but I know some went broke. Of my two buddies, one walked away down $30, and the other up $50.  Next time, I will try to take advantage of a hotter table by betting more as the dice pass, and I’ll walk away if I reach a predetermined goal, such as 50% of my starting stake.

Yes, it was a pretty fun night. It was nice to walk away ahead, especially after watching folks toss countless dollars on the hop and such and then go broke. I liked the ease of my conservative yet disciplined strategy. Unfortunately, all I want to do is go back!

I was playing at the Tulalip Casino in WA, the closest craps table to my home…

I live in Seattle have been to Tulalip a few times. They have too many slot machines for my taste, but they are one of the nicest casinos in the northwest, for sure smile

Sweet, my first post and already somebody else in Seattle! Yeah, there’s a lot of slot machines (just ask my wife) but hey, that’s how the casino paid for that nice new hotel, so I can’t complain too much. As long as there are dice tables, I’m going to be happy! You know, at Angel of the Winds, they have a $3 minimum which is kind of nice, but I haven’t played there yet. My friend at work and his wife go there to play sometimes because of the lower limits.

I haven’t been to Angel of the Winds yet either, though I’d like to check it out.  I went to the new Snoqualmie last month and wasn’t very impressed. They had a couple $10 craps tables going on a Saturday night, but overall the place wasn’t that busy, they had a great buffet with lots of crab though!

Yeah, I haven’t played craps at Snoqualmie, I went there once with the wife for dinner and found that the buffet was great! However, Tulalip and Angel are both closer to me (I’m in Bothell) and I prefer a $5 table for now. Hopefully if my bankroll gets bigger I can step up, but with 5x odds at Tulalip, I can probably stick there for a long time without even nearing the table max. Did you win at the table at Snoqualmie?

I won some money playing blackjack, and proceeded to lose it all the craps table. Oh well, it was a pretty fun night, and I only went home down $30 or so. Nice to meet you man, thanks for joining.
