Any opinions on adding the whirl or world bet to your pass line bet? I have a friend who likes to put $10 on the pass line and $5 on the whirl at the same time. 2,3,7,11 or 12 ($1 each). He thinks it provides some kind of insurance against a craps on the come out. I haven’t been able to tell if it’s worked for him or not overall. Good bet or bad?
it depends on your dice set if you set the 7 set or 6/5, 5/6 set the world bet would be a good bet. on MY come out shot I bet the pass, $5 world and $12 horn. i can hit a world number that 6/5, 5/6 set most of the time, if your dice stay on axis than you should see a 6-5=11. I love this set because i hit alot of craps numbers 2-3-12, i would lose my pass line but clean up on the world which has to be in increments of $5 ($1 on each number) and horn increments of $4( $1 on each number). you can do the math it all depends on which number it hits hopefully 2 or 12.
Be careful with whirl (world) bets. I quit doing them because after winning one on a yo, I was promptly told by the stickperson that it had been a horn bet. a five dollar horn bet, but its word against word and no recorders in the pit. So I will never make a bet where it isn’t clear what bet I made again.
I’m real conservative. Count how many times you lose the five dollars compared to how many times a 2,3 or 12 is rolled. If you do it to hedge the pass line you are better not to.

Horn bets go inside the little box as well as horn hi bets. World bets are place on top of the horn bet box, half in half out. Always watch where they put your bets.

Thats what really ended up making me decide not to place whirls anymore. What you say is different than what it says everywhere on the web, and even a crap dealing manual I have.
Whirl bets are supposed to be dived up into 5 equal bets on 2,3,7,11, and 12. I have no problem with them treating it as a C and E with a 7, but include the 7 please!!!! Getting off soapbox now.

World bet is a 5 bets in one and that is correct. I don’t know of any stick man that will take a $5 red chip and replace it with 5 white chips to set up a simple bet. The payout are :
7- push
2&12; is 5x the bet
3&11; is 2x the bet
Now can you set up a $6 world bet and figure out what the payout is.
When you look in your dealers manual, it should show you how to set up bets and make simple payouts.

Nor have I ever seen this done. However, where the bet is placed varies from house to house and in my experience seems to depend on the layout being used.

These payouts are only for tables that pay 30 for 1 on 2 and 12, and 15 for 1 on 3 and 11. It’s not as simple when the payouts are 30 to 1 and 15 to 1.
I agree. Why hedge a $10 PL bet with a $5 anything?
If you are wagering a larger amount on the PL then a hedge
on the Horn or world is a good bet.
Sometimes I get into a double pitch thingy and then i bet the horn
because the V3 produces horn #‘s when you DP. Only on the come out, though.

Having mostly played 30 for 1, I complete forgot about the 30 to 1. Still simple , same as above just add 1/5 of the bet rounding out to the nearest dollar.
