I believe that I may have misstepped on by placing an incorrect parameter to a situation. The scenario was a player finds a single open spot on a full table. The spot just happens to be the next shooter. And I questioned if one would shoot; but I believe that the etiquette at the table is that a walk-up spot for a new shooter must be stepped over by the stick-man. And the dice must be passed to the next available shooter. Now, if the dice are passed completely around and back, one may then shoot.

Does this sound correct?

I think I have walked rite up and got the dice before as you describe,I know people have stepped up in front of me rite before my roll before never thought much about it unless I was about to leave but no big deal to me I guess I never considered proper etiquette I will try to watch this in the future though.

I have never played AC or out East.  Does anyone make a big huff about this on the East coast?  I mean, generally people are foremost laid-back in Vegas, but we get our share of tourist you know.  I was up at a casino in Wisconson last year and played every weekend.  I can recall a few times that this had happened, but they never really have that many players at their tables.

This would seem to be a house policy.  The only time I have been passed over by the stick is if I arrive when the dice are already out.  In all other cases I have been offered the dice, but as I noted in another thread, passed them the first time around.

I did encounter a situation where the stick passed over a player with the dice, but it is not quite the same.  Two fellows were standing next to each other about mid way down the left side of the table.  (I was straight out left.)  After one of them sevened out and the other got the dice, they basically switched positions, so that the first player would be the next shooter.  Motioning with my head toward the pair, I said to second base, “We’ve got a traveler.”  The dealer pointed the situation out to the stick, who passed on the info to his replacement, who passed the dice to me directly when Player 2 sevened out.

Speaking from the East Coast. In AC if the person cuts in during the shooters roll that person will be the next shooter and even if he just ended his roll.BUT I had problems at Parx I was next the guy rolled twice and sevened out.I should have been next and got raised my voice and said “HEY HEY EXCUSE ME AM I THE INVISIBLE MAN” Pit boss wanted to be “chivalrous” and defend the female stick person.I argued on how I was right there and it wasnt right.

I am from NJ - 35 miles from the Big Apple - NYC - did you ever watch the Sopranos’.

I always thought that Chicago and NYC were samo-samo as far as big city attitudes went ;

Until my wife and I had occasion to visit Chicago - actually the Naval Training Center north/northwest of there - can’t remember the name of the US Naval base - attribute that to the CRS syndrnome - Can’t Remember Shit Syndrome -

Anyhow, to make a long story short - I was remarkedly impressed with the friendly attitude of the Chicagoens - when you spoke to them - they actually responded back in a civil manner - unlike the NYC attitide - ” You speaking to me , Dude ?” ” Who you lookin’ at “

The west coast and the east coast are night and day - unfortunately the east coast in the ” night “.

This response has nothing to do with you question - !!!!!!!!

I have been to Newark and the surrounding area and up to New York and up state; but the people in Boston seem to go out of their way to throw attitude at a person.  Don t get me wrong, I always enjoy the city when I have been there.

Wow - HardEight - you have to be a USPS employee - you are so ” F’ng ”  frustrated, disallusioned, misguided, misdirected, malnourished, disappointed and ?????????????? .

Seriously, you need to take a step back and look at the overall - big picture.

Yeah, we’re all toying with you - but you leave yourself so wide open at times - one can hardly resist to sieze the moment !

Seriously, you do need to control your use of the anglo/saxon dialect - i.e., the usage of the “F” word in particular - it is not appropriate in most , if not all venues .

As Kojak would say - ” Who loves you, Baby ” - speaking out of church for the forum - I say ” We all do ! ”

Most of the places I’ve worked, if you drive up to the game and slip into the “next shooter” position it’s no big deal. Where conflict arises is when a player continually moves in and out of the game, trying to take more than his (or her) fair share of shooting opportunities. A heads up dice crew should put the brakes on real quick in this situation.

In my experience in PA and NJ, you have to have had some bets on the table before the dice come to you.  If you walk up next to the shooter and he immediately sevens out, they will skip you.  But if you buy in and are in the game for a few rolls or more. the dice will be given to you when the shooter sevens out.

Now I have been at the Borgatta in AC on a weeknight when a convention is in the house.  You have a bunch of half-tanked-up newbies up at one end of the table. One player is shopoting and betting and the rest are watching.  When the shooter sevens out, the next one steps up , puts down a bet and starts to shoot.  I have seen this go on for four or five shooters - and the house let it happen! It pissed me off, so I moved to another table.
