Tha lay vig is 5% , which is twice the doey-don’t…..and you can’t lose money on the doey-don’t except for the 12

I find a big advantage in being able to come down on the lay bet. Otherwise, the number of point-seven outs works out pretty darn well. And the pit bosses seem to rate higher than they do for doey-don’t, even if you tell them you’re just hedging for the don’t come.

I’ll buy that Sancho.

I always say there has to be a reason(s)  for everything you do at the table.

I would say that in my case there should a reason, but I that I can’t always find it and I certainly don’t always know it.

a player can ” Lay against the point ” in the opposite scenario -
As a for instance :  While at the Sands in Bethlehem, Pa. - a player made a DPL after the point # was established -
He placed his bet in the D/P area -  The dealer immediately placed a ” Lay Bet Button ” on the top of his bet -

Maybe you missed the dollar vig being paid. As someone who has laid the point after the comeout for more than 10 years, I say it seems you’re into semantics here. If you want to call it a don’t place bet, explain the bet and its odds.

In essence - Both bets circumvent the advantage / disadvantage of the come-out roll event

I wish. Lay bettors and don’t bettors pay heavily for the privilege of enjoying the seven—- after the comeout.

Sancho,

Your above statement / comment confuses me -

As a Lay Bettor - Dark Sider - I am betting OPPOSITE the Place Bet Payoff Odds -

I.e. - I am Laying / Betting $2 to win $1 on the 4 and 10 ;  betting $7 to win $5 on the 5 and 9 ; and betting $7 to win $6 one 6 and 8.

Is this the reference you mean when you say ” pay heavily for the privelege ... “ -

I can see a DC bettor having a disadvantage due to the fact that a welcome 7-out would cause his DC bet to lose -

But all ( any ) of the behind the line bets would win.

Is there more to this picture / scenario that meets my eye ?

I was thinking of (1) the 5 percent vig on the lay bets and (2) the 2-to-1 disadvantage on the comeout (either don’t pass or don’t come versions). Then of course comes the thicket of avoiding the rolling of the number or numbers you are behind. All in all, it is not exactly a piece of cake.

big surprise Where did you get these payoffs?  Lay bets pay true odds with 5% vigorish charged on the winnings (or if paid up front, the potential winnings).  The minimum vig is the smallest denomination chip on the table, so even if the house is using 25¢ chips the minimum you would want to lay no-4 or no-10 is $10 to win $5.  No-5 or no-9 would require $7.50 to win $5, and no-6 and no-8 would take $6 to win $5.

The true opposite of a place bet is a place bet to lose.  I have heard of only one brick and mortar casino, in Brisbane, Australia (and I do not know its name that offers still this bet.)  Payoffs are 5:11 on 4 and 10, 5:8 on 5 and 9, and 4:5 on 6 and 8.

I am a Place Bettor, primarily -

I do not take odds on the line or behind it -

The numbers that I stated were the reverse of my Place Bet wagers -

Sorry for the cunfusion -

My mistake -

You are correct in your figures and payoff amounts !
