Hi All,

I’ll be heading to AC in a few weeks for a multiday visit. We’ll be playing some poker tourneys and craps. I’m going to have some time to kill before meeting up with my wife on the first day.

I want to ‘warm up’ a bit with some cheap craps if possible while waiting. I know I can find $10 tables in most casinos, but what places are likely to have $5 tables on a late morning/early afternoon weekday?

Weekdays - early AM - before noon -

Definately try Showboat and Resorts -

Both had $5 min tables early AM - weekends / holidays excluded -

Caesar’s is $10 min -

Unsure about the rest aside from SB and R !

Anybody in AC this weekend?  I will be there later today through tomorrow morning if anyone wants to meet up.

Just got back from AC about an hour ago !

Got to Showboat at @ 2pm +/- -

Crowded - checked our Taj and Resorts -

Came back to Showboat @3 +/-  played about 2hours -

Left for dinner -

Came back @ 7 stayed and played till @10 -then headed home -

Unfortunately - I did not check the forum until we returned home -

Otherwise would have definately looked forward to hooking up and shooting with you -

Notice - I intentionally avoided the phrase ” playing ” -

Might go to Mt. Airy / Sands Sunday late AM -

Definately not AC back to back - too far / too long a trip -

Maybe, hopefully -  next time !

I’m typing this from my (comped) room at Showboat.  I got here yesterday afternoon, had a comped buffet and checked in.  Went over to Ballys where I had a $500 direct bet coupon.  Put it on the passline and threw a 7 for the biggest bet/win of my career.  Then walked over to Caesar’s and had a nice win.  First time I ever saw one die land on top of the other.  It was declared a no roll.  Gave some back at the Taj last night but got a great breakfast out of it.  A lot of people come here and swear off gambling.  I swear this place off because of the food.  I’m on Nutrisystem and totally go off the rails when I’m here.  Good luck in PA.

$3 craps?  Are you serious?  That’s totally worth it in my opinion.

I play at home with a simulator I wrote almost 20 years ago that is completely keyboard driven.  I can get in 20 rolls per minute with it.  As a result, I’ve always had low tolerance for slow games.  A supervisor once said I was the perfect player.  I don’t hold the dice, hit the back wall, take care of the dealers and am quick to retrieve dice which leave the table.  It’s all about keeping the game moving. So low limit tables with center action on every bet don’t cut it for me.  But with the proliferation of casinos thinning out the pool of available players, I’ve had to get used to usually not finding a $25 game.

I think Trump Plaza is hurting for players.  Its not the best casino in town.  Everything is rundown.  Even the toilet paper sucks. I was there on a Wednesday and it was very slow. The table was never full.

I agree.  Even though it’s at the foot of the city, I seldom go there anymore. It also looks like they have the same chips from the mid 90s.

So then the question becomes are the tables and service just as rundown as the rest of the casino?  If not is it worth it to practice on a $3 table even if it is at the edge of the city….

Most definitely !

Although the table MAX is only $100 -

You can bet $3 on the PL and the 6 and 8 -

AS LONG AS YOU CAN GET YOUR PREFERRED TABLE POSITION -

IMHO - HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG ?

Then my next logical question is how come we aren’t going to the Trump Plaza to take over that table as a group.  Low buy in.  Easy to practice on….

Snake eyes have you checked out the conditions of the table in the Trump Plaza?  You are usually good with coming some sort of intel.

See - http://www.crapsforum.com/viewthread/3084/ for Table Conditions in AC -

You can bet your sweet bippie - EVERY $3 table and MOST if not ALL $5 tables will be jam packed with players -

It is highly unlikely that perhaps 1 or 2 spots could be found open at these tables -

It is totally unrealistic that anyone could find their preferred shooting position open - especially with a group of 8 players -

Although it does sound quite appealing - it is unfortunately , improbable , if not , impossible !

Also, LOW MIN tables are usually available during LOW traffic times - weekdays - mornings - and NOT weekends - which is prime time to the casino industry !

You may not have seen that at least one $3 table is supposed to be open 24/7:

Trump Plaza Introduces New Lower Minimums For Roulette and Craps
Oct.20, 2011 in Atlantic City Gambling, Atlantic City restaurants, Blackjack, Casino Promotions, Trump Plaza

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – October 19, 2011- Trump Plaza announced that it is now offering $3 craps with 10 times odds, and the option for roulette players to play “inside” wagers at 50 cents. No additional fees apply with either game. There will be at least one $3 craps table and one 50-cent roulette game available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These tables are in addition to a total of four $1 Blackjack tables and 847 Penny Slots (50% of the total number of slot machines in the casino) currently available.

“In today’s economy, people are looking to stretch their entertainment dollar as much as possible.  These minimums will give them that opportunity,” said Eddie Llambias, General Manager of Trump Plaza.  “In addition to value, these minimums can eliminate the intimidation factor of table games.  These new minimums give casual gamers the chance to enjoy playing table games … just for the fun of it.”

In addition to the new minimums, Trump Plaza continues giving value in its dining options. Roberto’s Ristorante and Max’s Steakhouse will continue to offer $29.99 three-course specials Sunday through Friday.  The three course menus feature a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert that will regularly be updated by Chef Les Bender.  24 Central is also offering a $19.20 three-course special that is available every day starting at 5pm.  The three courses will consist of chilled shrimp cocktail, roast prime rib with vegetable and baked potato and a choice of rich chocolate cake, ice cream or rice pudding for dessert.

Trump Plaza’s “Liquid Bar,” located at the Boardwalk entrance also offers Happy Hour pricing during all hours of operation. This pricing is as follows: $3 Draft Beer; $4 wine by the glass; and $5 cocktails.—press of atlantic city
