Just Wondering. How does the casino keep of all of your bets with so many people playing. I never see anyone marking anything down or entering in a computer. Is this all based on your Buy In?

I’m assuming you’re asking about how they keep track of your action in general, as opposed to which bet belongs to which player.  If this is the case, the floor supervisor (walking around in the pit) either estimates this based on his own observations, or asks the boxperson (seated at the table) his/her estimation of your average bet.  Sometimes, even the dealer is asked.  A craps table can usually accommodate up to 16 players, but most people have consistent betting patterns that are easily remembered.  The floor supervisor is usually the one who enters this data into a computer.  Since the computer or podium may not be that close to the table, maybe that’s why you never notice it.  Additionally, the rating can be adjusted retroactively, so a floor supervisor may ask about your action after you’ve already left.  The computer will make the necessary adjustments to your rating.

If you’re asking how they keep track of whether or not a particular bet belongs to you or the next guy, it has to do with where you are standing at the table.  Let me know if you need more details on that.

My book contains a different take on the subject…

777, I don’t want to hurt your bottom line by getting a sneak preview… but may I ask what this different take is regarding theoretical win (or whatever you were referring to when you said this)?  I’ll understand if your response is, “buy the book.”

K…you like to ask alot of questions, as evidenced by your posts. I guess that’s how one learns. You a lawyer ?

Chapter 3, titled “Probability, Odds & Percentages ” , starts with a quote by Mike Caro…” In the beginning, everything was even money”. Later on I explain that the house advantage is determined 4 ways, one of which is ’ house edge’. Under house edge I explain that this is a theoretical quantity, and an overall fraction of the amount bet. It is what the casino would earn if every bet comes up as probability says it would, and that the casino does not make money from bets they win from players but their earnings are based on turnover. That everytime you bet it does not matter whether you win or lose as there is a cost assiciated with every bet. I then go into the any 7 bet and expound on that one bet.

I thought the explanation I originally gave you was very clear….in essence, the casino does not select which bets it applies the house edge to….it applies to all bets made. Further evidence that this is true is that when they rate you for comps they don’t just rate you on certain bets but all bets, winning ones and losing ones.

I don’t know why you asked me to talk further on the subject but ....there you go.

Like you said in a previous post…....” I won’t beat this topic to death…”

Good luck in your play.

Your previous explanation was indeed very clear.  But when you wrote that your book had a different take on the subject, I wanted to know what this different take was.

You can buy the book here ( shown) or you can buy it directly from me.

http://www.gamblersgeneralstore.com/products/craps__learn_to_play___learn_to_win/2877.php?page_id=4

If you buy it from me it will be a little cheaper and will include a pair of regulation casino dice.

It was written for students at the beginning level. It contains everything there is to know about the game. It is 200 pages and contains a 100 question exam at the end ( with answers ) and over 50 graphs and charts. It is not a systems book or a dice setting book. If you are a very experienced player you will still learn a few things, but very little, and it would probably be a waste of money. If you new or intermediate it would be helpful.

If you want to get it from me….PM me.

I just want to go on record as saying that I own a copy of the book, it’s very entertaining and informative. The last time I gave this book a plug a few people got their backs up, so that’s all I will say for now.
