Just Wondering. How does the casino keep of all of your bets with so many people playing. I never see anyone marking anything down or entering in a computer. Is this all based on your Buy In?
I’m assuming you’re asking about how they keep track of your action in general, as opposed to which bet belongs to which player. If this is the case, the floor supervisor (walking around in the pit) either estimates this based on his own observations, or asks the boxperson (seated at the table) his/her estimation of your average bet. Sometimes, even the dealer is asked. A craps table can usually accommodate up to 16 players, but most people have consistent betting patterns that are easily remembered. The floor supervisor is usually the one who enters this data into a computer. Since the computer or podium may not be that close to the table, maybe that’s why you never notice it. Additionally, the rating can be adjusted retroactively, so a floor supervisor may ask about your action after you’ve already left. The computer will make the necessary adjustments to your rating.
If you’re asking how they keep track of whether or not a particular bet belongs to you or the next guy, it has to do with where you are standing at the table. Let me know if you need more details on that.
My book contains a different take on the subject…
777, I don’t want to hurt your bottom line by getting a sneak preview… but may I ask what this different take is regarding theoretical win (or whatever you were referring to when you said this)? I’ll understand if your response is, “buy the book.”
