Characteristics of craps players that really annoy me

OK….I’ll start with two, one generic and one specific

First the generic -  people that are intolerant annoy me.  We all have things that annoy us.  What we do about it - suffer in silence, walk away, or raise hell - is up to you. Most of the time, it is something minor or just a difference of opinion or approach. In that case, smile and let it go.  If it is seriously impinging on your ability to enjoy yourself, that is another story.  If someone is breaking a real rule or policy, complain.  If not, you might need to be the one to take a walk.

More specifically, I really get annoyed at late bettors.  To me, craps is a game of rhythm.  A shooter on a hot roll is usually in a rhythm.  When a bettor constantly bets after the dice are out and the shooter has to alter his routine or rhythm, that seriously pisses me off (especially when I am the shooter).

so now, you all - have at it.

When shooters want the stick man to continually hit the top of the dice to change their top-facing number before they’ll even set/pick them up.

1. When people take a long time to ” set ” the dice to a certain orientation - then pick them up, shake them and fling them mindlessly down the length of the table -

2. When people ” set ” certain numbers on the top of the dice - then look at the bottom of the dice - NEVER glancing at the sides of the dice to ensure their ” set ” is correct -

  3. ” Late ” bets after the dice are pushed to the shooter -

I could go on, and on , and on , and on .......................

Yeah, I had an incident a couple years back at Harrahs in New Orleans where there was this guy who would wait until I started my toss to oput his bet down at the other end right where I was throwing.  I even patiently waited a bit a few times to give him time.  But, no… he couldnt be until I was tossing.  So I started just grabbing the dice and throwing them at his hand.  The third time he looked up from his unplaced bet after the dice had hit his hand agin, giving me the WTF? look, only to see my own glaruing WTF back at him.  Actually I blame the dealers who saw him doing it over and over and did nothing to control their own table.

1. People that hog the dealers attention.  “Dude wait your turn. Same bet please.”
2. People that don’t take odds on their pass line bet.
3. Smoking at the table.
4. People that buy-in in the middle of the hand.
5. People that interfere with the dice. “Hands up!”

I could go on…

1. People who criticize you for not throwing the number. They think you have dice control. I tell them not to bet on me if that happens. Dumb shits.
2. Same as above: people who take forever to set the dice and then feed the chickens with a rocket shot.WTF?

What annoys me at the tables,

1) Overcrowded Tables

2) Confused(?) Players who buyin next to a Hot Shooter ( Anyone see the movie “The Cooler” )

3) Players who argue with Dealers because they were shorted their payout on a $6 “6” when a shooter is on a 30 minute roll.

4) Players who will never, ever have any craps “etiquette”

Thats enough for now.  Heck thats enough for me forever….

Fleas, players who make only an occasional bet, particularly at a full table.

The player who wants to “squeeze in” at a full table but makes no effort to take up as little space as possible.

Motor mouths, who ask questions continuously, and usually the same ones over and over.

Extra slow players and dealers.

People who make late bets or throw in cash,  right before the toss.

Don’t players, especially next to me. I love it when I am shooting and I beat them unmercifully. I know it is not rational or proper but what can I say…..you asked and I must be honest.

People who argue for a long, long time over a dollar.

Guess I will get in on this.  I believe in a cold & hot flow of the dice & can be changed one way or another by the actions of the people at the table.  I hate it when say there or 6 people at a hot table & here comes this guy with $20 in hand & more times than not changes the flow of the dice.

In no particular order.

1.  Players who don’t watch their hands.
2.  Smokers.
3.  Players who ask for a chair to sit in while playing.
4.  Players who don’t know to take even odds when the point is 5 or 9.
5.  Players who take down their don’t pass bet when a 6 or 8 is established as the point.  Or even a 5/9 if the shooter gets hot.
6.  Players who bring an entourage of newbies with them.
7.  Players who make an excessive number of center bets.  They should be an infrequent amusement.
8.  Players who ask me, upon their arrival, how the table is going.
9.  Shooters who hold the dice too long.
10. Shooters who don’t hit the back wall.

I never considered that buying in during a shoot might annoy some.  I’ll keep that in mind.
