Would love to hear from a dealer or someone with real knowledge….

Was at the Borgatta last night.  I was at one end of the table and there were a bunch of twentysomethings up the other end.  Only two of them were actually betting but the rest were standing around watching (and drinking). As the shooter sevened out, another of their friends would step up to the table and put down a couple of chips and become the new shooter.  This happened easily with about 6 shooters.  They were all newbies so each one had to be reminded about “one hand” , “don’t take the dice away from the table”, etc..  Of course they were bouncing them off the table one time and then barely making it past the stick the next.  The rhythm of the table sucked.  Of course, it did not make it less aggravating that they were not successful in the shooting.  I said something to the dealer when the passed the dice to themselves for the fifth time, but the dealers did nothing.  I moved on to another table.

So is there a real rule about this situation, or is it up to the dealers to decide how to allow the next shoooter to be determined?

I wouldn’t say that there’s a “real rule” about this type of situation… but boxpeople generally do not allow the same player position to shoot more than once unless there’s nobody else at the table.  It’s hard to say what “should” have happened without having seen the situation myself.

It’s the position at the table, not the individual.

Just imagine 10 people standing behind the shooter ( an exaggeration to make the point )......you think each of those ten people will shoot the dice before it moves to the next position.

we kinda covered this… http://www.crapsforum.com/viewthread/2246/

But, there is no real set rule. But, in Vegas the stick-man will pass you over if you are a step-up shooter. And this all depends on the table. The table might just have a few people and everyone might be passing on the dice. Why? I love to shoot.  And the stick-man might have this in mind if a step-up shooter approaches the table.

But, as young players are hitting the tables, one can always try to explain some of the etiquette that comes with the game.  I think in the movie Vegas Vacation, Rusty Griswald is a step-up shooter at the craps table and they let him shoot.

I have to say this is not what a person should be doing. And I asked before if this is an issue out east?

I’d say it would be time to call foul.  If the boxperson won’t listen to complaints, ask for a judgement from the floor manager.  If that doesn’t work, to the casino manager.  If it takes beyond that, thats where the social network sites really come in.  The large corporations really do have people whose jobs includepatrolling sites looking for complaining customers.  And the purpose is to try to appease so as to shut up someone complaining to the masses (as opposed to only to the corporation).

I’m a blackjack dealer, we are trained to deal the game, deal the game, and deal the game. We have very little if any training in “how to handle” tough situations like this. It makes me uncomfortable when players are fighting over a spot, or some other argument because I have little to say on the matter. Much of that is up the suit/floor personnel. They’re trying to push at my casino, if the player is not playing, tell them they have to leave the table.

After the 2nd one tried gettin’ in, I’d swoop right past if there wasn’t a ‘line bet down, IMMEDIATELY after 7-out. Occasionally, I see this sort of thing…I’d say the Stickman’s and Box Man’s reaction would hinge directly on how busy the game was and what time of day it was…
