You have to make the bet before a new shooter has made his first roll.
The shooter has to come out on and make at least six different points to collect.
You collect different amounts ( which depends on the particular casino) depending on how many different points your make of 4 or more.
Most common payoff is 25for 1 for 4 different points, $250 for 5 , and $1,000 for six,

As you describe in your explanation, the shooter must make at least FOUR different points for the bet to be paid. Making 5 or 6 increases the amount that will be paid. In Atlantic City and Eastern PA, you may wager anywhere from $1 to $5 on the fire bet. I understand some Vegas casinos accept wagers up to $10.
In Las Vegas, the max on the firebet of $5 is at Bills and O’Sheas, whereas a $10 firebet is allowed at the other Harrahs/CET properties, ( Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Rio and of course Caesars Palace ).
A side note, Its funny when you play at Casino Venues outside of Vegas that have the Firebets. I always toss out a $1, just because you never know when a 4 pointer may be made. When I am in Vegas, I tend to get a little looser on the firebet options. There does seem to be a better quality of dice shooters who get on decent rolls. If I am playing at a “familiar” house ( Ballys, Paris or Harrahs ) I have had better success with my own shooting and other players. I tend to increase my wages from $2-5 depending on the good old “hunch” factor. Last May it was a good Hunch as several players hit 4 and 5 out of the 6 numbers. So based on the Wizard of Odds factor it is a risky vs bad bet, I personally do play it as I have done well and so far to date am ahead of the game.
